Thank you a lot!

Use the information in the gene circuit here to answer the following questions. When you add a small amount of the signal peptide to a flask containing a population of E. Luminescent, what will be the result? Discuss the levels of GB protein, signal peptide, and the status of the transcription factors in your answer. Compare the levels of transcription and translation for both genes (GB and signal peptide) when there is no signal peptide present. Use the terms "repressor" and "activator" in your answer. When you add a large amount of the signal peptide to a flask containing a population of E. Luminescent, what will be the result? Discuss the levels of GB protein, signal peptide, and the status of the transcription factors in your answer.

Explanation / Answer

1) From the diagram given in the question, the inference is that the glow bright (GB) protein is produced by the E.Luminescent only in the presence of signal peptide. Therefore, when a small amount of signal peptide is added to the flask of E.luminescent, the signal peptide acts as an activator and it binds to the transcription factors to produce the glow bright (GB) protein. The levels of GB protein are increased.
