Question
Conceptual questions about forces on objects:
Based on this problem (doesn't need to be solved) where the pully is not negligble unlike the problem states...
....please answer and explain the folllowing question:
1) what is greater? force from m1 on incline, or force from incline on m1?
2) wha is greter? force from string on m2, or force from earth on m2?
3)what is greater? force from earth on m1, or force from m1 on earth?
Thanks! Lmk if you need clarification!
Block 1 and block 2, with masses ml and m2 such that m1 m2 (ml is much less than m2 ), are connected by a massless inextensible string wrapped around a massless ideal pulley. The pulley is rigidly connected to the top of an inclined plane which makes an angle 0 with the horizontal, as shown in the figure above. Block 2 slides down the inclined plane, and block 1 slides up block 2. The coefficient of kinetic friction between the blocks is pk. The surface between the lower block and the inclined plane is frictionless. Gravity is directed vertically downward with acceleration g . Solve for the acceleration of each block in terms of ml, m2 , mu k, theta , and g .Explanation / Answer
a) same in accordance with newton's third law of motion both m1 & incline exert equal force on each other but in opposite direction
b) force from earth bcoz tension [force from string on m2] will be almost equal to its one of component along the plane = m2gsin(thetha)
c) again same in accordance with newton's third law of motion
