Question
When calculating the capacitance in the series for C2 and C3 thesolutions say it = C2C3/(C2 + C3) which they further show usingk1*e*AreaMy question is, for the area in this calculation of theseries, why do they say the area is A/2 and not A/4?? The k2 and k3are both one-fourth the area, but in the calculation they put A/2(which is also what they put for the calculation of capacitance forC1...so it doesn't match up)
help please?

Explanation / Answer
yes u said correctly first that the capacitance in series for C2and C3 is = C2C3/(C2+ C3) now, now for the area in calculation of the series area is halved that is correct we know that C = AE0/d when two capcitances are in series A is just become half so we have area as A/2
