Question

An electron is trapped in a finite square well that has a width of L=0.12nm and a depth of 2.5eV.
1.) Consider an infinite square well with a width of L=0.12nm. How many states for the infinite square well have an energy less than 2.5eV?
2.) For those states found in 1.), sketch the shape of the wave function for those values of n in the finite square well of depth 2.5eV. Include the shape of the wave function both inside and outside the well. Do not worry about the overall normalization of the wave function.
3.) For the state that you sketched in 2.) that has the largest value of n, exactly what is happening outside the well? Is the wave function zero outside the well? Is it varying as sin(cx), cos(cx), tan(cx), exp(cx), etc..?
