Question

Find the equivalent resistance between points A and B shown in the figure.

Thank you :)

Explanation / Answer

R3,R4,R5 are in parallel So their equivalent be called Req1 (1/Req1) = (1/R3) + (1/R4) + (1/R5) =>(1/Req1) = 1/3.9 + 1/4.6 + 1/5.4 =>(1/Req1) = 5320/8073 => Req1 = 8073/5320 ohm = 1.5174 ohm Req1 & R6 are in series Let their equivalent be Req2 Req2 = Req1 + R6 =>1.5174 + 4 = 5.5174 ohm Req2,R1& R2 are in parallel So their equivalent be called Req (1/Req) = (1/R1) + (1/R2) + (1/Req2) =>(1/Req) = 1/1.8 + 1/4.9 + 1/5.5174 =>(1/Req) = 0.941 => Req = 1/0.941 = 1.063 ohm So Equivqalent Resistance of Network, Req = 1.063 ohm
