Explanation / Answer

My definition of leadership had a positive impact after going through the assignments and the course work. I was able to understand how a leader should act and think in order to lead the team to its planned goals and even perform above expectations. My knowledge of driving team dynamics and understanding cared confrontations will always help me to overcome difficult leadership challenges in life and will help me excel as a successful leader.

During the program I was able to understand that leadership is the art of motivating a group of people to act towards achieving a common goal. Leadership definition captures the essentials of being able to inspire others and being prepared to do so. Effective leadership is based upon ideas (whether original or borrowed), but won't happen unless those ideas can be communicated to others in a way that engages them enough to act as the leader wants them to act. A leader is the person in the group that possesses the combination of personality and leadership skills that makes others want to follow his or her direction.

There is a noticeable mindset change that I have been able to realize during the program where my worldview has been impacted and I am able to identify the roles people play in a team and the leadership exhibited by people which make teams perform. I also understand the traits leaders have and the traits of good team members who thrive to work under an efficient leader and perform a collective action.

I am also able to identify the gaps in leadership abilities that has led to downfall of many teams and am able to learn from their mistakes and make myself more aware about the realities of the world.

Since, leadership is an art and skill that needs to be constantly worked upon to improve my abilities to emerge as a successful leader, I feel that the program has set the right mindset and induced the ability to take it forward in quest for exhibiting and polishing my leadership abilities.

I am happy that I chose my dissertation research topic as leadership and practiced the skills for exhibiting better leadership abilities. The program has enhanced my quest to better understand the subject and inculcate the skills to prove myself a an efficient leader in future and accomplish great tasks.
