Proto-Elamite Kneeling bull is a silver decortive piece of art with elamie language of a civilisation in iran from 3100-2900 B.C. The neck and body part of the bull is decorated with a particular pattern and is seen holding a pot in the hand. It was purchased by the K rabenou museum in New York,USA in 1966.It was found wrapped in a piece of cloth with corrosion present on the surface of material.
Provenance is the region where the original piece of art has been developed in the ancient history for worshipping ,prayers and is considered to be sacred.
1)For example the Ishtar gate from babylon,Iran has a gate full of caricatures of bull on the outside.2)Palette of king narmer has bulls embedded on the shield .The bull is a depiction of strength and vigour of an animal used in agriculture for growing plant crops. 3)Kretan palace at knossos have various depictions of bull .In this tradition,men are seen as holding the horns of bull and performing athletics which are quite dangerous and difficult to perform.4)Italian paintings have bull head depiction in their art in history along with traditional bull fighting which is common all over rome and europe.
