Ruth MarDock carelessly parks her car on a steep hill, leaving the car in neutral and failing to engage the parking brake. The car rolls down the hill and knocks down an electric line. The sparks from the broken line ignite a grass fire. The fire spreads until it reaches a barn one mile away. The barn houses dynamite and the burning barn explodes, causing part of the roof to fall on and injure the passing motorist, Joe. Can Joe recover damages from Ruth? Clearly explain your decision and support it with law and critical analysis.

Ruth MarDock had parked the car carelessly on steep hill that is the first act of negligence as she had the duty of due care which she didnot performed, she could have foreseen that her action could have damaged and caused harm to anyone on road side, She has breached her duty by not checking on parking brake which also caused car rolling down the road and knock down electric line on its way and if there was anyone on road the car could have knock down them also, she could foresee the cause and there is foreseeable harm case against her and for her negligence, but her action caused this chain reaction and caused Joe injury would have superseding event as she did not knew that barn contained dynamite which have blasted the roof and that roof hurt Joe so she could not be liable for that superseding event and cannot recover from Ruth. Due to foreseeable negligence you can be eligible for damages but for superseding event defendent cannot be charged.
