Do the tasks in order, because some tasks are dependent upon successful completion of earlier tasks. You may use any source - the videos, man pages, the textbook and notes to perform these tasks. {You may use the apropos command to search for appropriate commands.} Warning: This is not a trivial lab. This is not a test abetting rote repeat of tasks demonstrated in class. You must also be able to research Linux commands, options and proper syntax to accomplish real world tasks. I expect this will take a few hours to complete. Remember that Linux is CASE SENSITIVE. Rm and rm are NOT the same. I will count off totally for a question if you do not take this into account. For each command give the ENTIRE COMMAND SEQUENCE. If I ask you 'What command would I use to move the file one.txt to the parent directory and rename it to two.txt?", the answer is NOT 'mv'. That is only part of the command. I want the entire command sequence. EXAMPLE TASK: Change to the root directory. ANSWER: cd / DO NOT USE A WORD PROCESSOR. Use a text editor After completion, upload your file to the DROPBOX. RECOMMENDED PROCEDURE: **** I recommend you open this file in a GUI text editor, such as gedit. Follow the instructions to execute commands in a gui terminal. As you succeed in writing commands that give the required results, copy and paste the command sequence into the space following the question in this text file in the text editor. That way you can be sure you have the right command sequence and will not make any typos while typing it into this text file.
