Part F

G= kJ/mol

Explanation / Answer

Given :

Delta Hfus = 28.16 kJ/mol= 28160 J/mol

Delta S fus = 26.22 J/ kmol

We use following formula to get delta G

Delta G = Delta H – T delta S

Part A ) T = 1050 K

Lets plug this value in above equation

Delta G = 28160 J / mol – (1050 K x 26.22 J / K mol)

=629 J / mol

= 0.63 kJ/mol

Part B:

Since the value of delta G is positive so it will not melt..

Part C

T = 1074 K

Delta G = 28160 J / mol – (1074 K x 26.22 J / K mol)

= 0 kJ

Part D

NaCl will melt.

Part E

T = 1095 K

Delta G = 28160 J / mol – (1095 K x 26.22 J / K mol)

=- 0.550 kJ/mol

Part F

Delta G is negative so NaCl will melt.
