Question

VII-2. Refrigerant 134a is the working fluid in a vapor-compression heat pump system with a heating capacity of 7 kW. The condenser operates at 10 bar and the evaporator temperature is – 24 C. The refrigerant is saturated vapor at the compressor inlet and saturated liquid at the condenser exit. Pressure drops in the flows through the evaporator and condenser are negligible. The compression process is adiabatic and the compressor isentropic efficiency is 84%. Determine (a) the compressor power input, in kW. (b) the coefficient of performance.

VII-3. For the heat pump system of Problem VII-2, use IT to investigate the effects of isentropic compressor efficiency ranging from 60 to 100% on system performance with the conditions of Problem VII-2 as the base case. The mass flow rate should be held constant in the analysis. (a) Provide the IT code of your solution, and a table showing a comparison of the data and results for the base case from Problem VII-2 to validate the computer solution. (b) Create graphs of heating capacity, compressor power input, and coefficient of perforance and discuss/explain.

I need help with VII-3, i solved VII-2 already.

Explanation / Answer

coefficient of oerformance=Q2/w=Q2/Q1-Q2
