Explanation / Answer

1. Total score = sum of your choices = 5+4+5+5+5+5+6+5+6+7 = 53. (You have not given any score for behavior 4 - responsible interpretation of data. I have assumed it to be 5).

A score of 53 means a stronger score.

My main strengths in assessing the environment as a collaborative leader are the following:

(a) I often use assessment tools to learn the needs of the community in a systematic manner.

(b) I often undertake proper analysis of data and follow it up with scientific and responsible interpretation of data.

(c) I often gather information before taking action. This helps in ensuring that my actions are based on informed choices.

(d) I encourage my team members to not act on the basis of assumptions but to use information as a basis of making informed choices and then taking action.

(e) Before planning for solutions, i ensure that there is a clarity regarding the problem.

(f) I often view a problem from the perspectives of the different cultures and then seek the views. Secondly, i try to understand a group or a community using a systems perspective.

(g) I analyze the different dimensions to a problem before proceeding to solve it.

My areas of improvement are:

(i) I should more often determine the appropriateness of the assessment tool in the context of the type of or kind of information that is being collected.
