Explanation / Answer
Grants in today's world must be managed by an Information System which is crucial as well as essential. Information system has been essential for daily life. We are using it in many aspects of life.
Managing Grants through a Information System is essential as it allows us to use the benefits of automation. The grant provider can provide quality services to their awardees and bring more focus on the core aspects of grants performance and monitoring using the information system such as paper management, manual verification and validation. The grants are also provided and processed timely to the awardees as information system helps to keep a good track of the various steps of the Grant life cycle process.
Information system helps in managing the consolidated repository for the grants data also which allows the effective information retrieval, analysis and reports generation based on the needs. Automated process enables the accuracy and consistancy of the data also. Proper notification and tracking is also made possible with the use of information system in Grants.
The components should be tracked like the status of grant in the grant life cycle, Applicant verification, etc. It is essential to track these as it provides the effictiveness to the whole system and provides benefits to both the grant provider and awardees.
For example, an applicant wants to know the status the grant, and if the information system is not enabled, then he will need to go to the grants office and various department many times to keep track of the grant application. But if the information system is there, then he can easily track and enquire the latest status and other aspects like completion date, etc.
