Question
Given that climate change is rapidly altering many species' habitats, forcing some to die or migrate 1) explain how this could dramatically affect food webs (a few sentences) 2) Via succession of species", how might habitat loss/change create new opportunities for some species as well ? (a few sentences) NOTE: in part 1, be sure to include factors of elevation, weather events, abiotic resources such as more water or sunshine. In part 2, please include a mention of how producers consumers, detritivores, and decomposers factor in to this equation.Explanation / Answer
1) Climate change is the major threat to biodiversity and one of the main factors affecting human health
waring may force species to migrate to higher latitudes or higher elevations where temperatures are more conducive to their survival.
As sea level rises, saltwater intrusion in freshwater, force to minimize the biotic community in water
Tsunami, cyclone or hurricane are also responsible for infertile and erosion of soil which leads to lower food webs
2) First of all, there are 2 types of successiion
Primary succession : areas where no living organisms ever existed
Secondary secession : areas where somehow lost all the living orgainms that existed there.
Primary succession occurs are newly cooled Lavaca, newly created pond or reservoir.
The formation of a new biotic commuinity is slow and before its formation, the soil layer is formed
The below processes changes the community
Producers:- The new biotic community formed
Consumers :- feed the producers and create their own community
Detritivores:- this is process which breakdown the particles. It is the main process In decomposition called as fragmentation
Decomposition :- The important steps in the process of decomposition are fragmentation, leaching, catabolism, humiliation and mineralisation
